Beginners
As a beginner you will probably be feeling quite nervous about learning to drive. You need not worry, with Ltest you are in expert hands! Take lessons with one of our fully qualified instructors using our modern dual controlled and air-conditioned fleet of cars.

Our instructors will come and meet you at the time of your first lesson and discuss any special requirements you may have, such as completing your lessons within a certain time or sticking to a budget.

Your instructor will ask to see your provisional licence (don't forget to bring both the plastic and paper counterpart). If you wear glasses or lenses don't forget to bring them with you.

You driving lessons will always be structured around you. We can offer 1, 1 ½ or 2 hour lessons and work at a pace that suits you best. We will keep track of your progress using a track record throughout your training and always gear your learning towards passing your driving test at your first attempt.

Whatever your concerns your instructor should be able to offer you the right advice. All of our instructors are patient and professional and will help you to gain confidence and achieve your goals. Our office team is also on hand over the phone or by email during business hours should you wish to change your appointments or need further information.

Refresher Courses
A refresher course might be right for you if you have driven before, but perhaps need to gain confidence in specific areas. You may have stopped taking lessons in the past and are thinking about starting again. Whatever your needs our refresher courses will be designed around you.

If you are continuing training towards your test your instructor will ask you a few questions about what you have learned previously, you will then be asked to perform a few control exercises. After which your instructor may ask you to drive for a few minutes while he or she assesses your driving ability. After the assessment your instructor will suggest a course of lessons to suit your needs.

If you have previously passed your test but have not driven since you may want a couple of lessons just to build your confidence. We will be happy to arrange a lesson plan to suit you.

Intensive Driver Training Courses
If you are looking to complete your test quickly then you may wish to consider an intensive course of lessons. An intensive course will normally see you complete your training within a few weeks. You will normally need to be available for lessons between 9am and 5pm during the week.

We only recommend an intensive course if you have already completed your theory test and have previous driving experience. Before you are accepted for an intensive course we will normally ask you on a driving assessment session. This will help our instructor understand your learning ability and decide whether or not an intensive course is right for you.

Pass Plus Lessons
Pass Plus is a training scheme for newly qualified drivers. Its aim is to improve your driving skills and make you a safer driver.

The scheme designed by the DSA will develop your skills and knowledge where you may have limited experience. You will benefit by gaining quality driving experience safely; helping you to become a more skilful driver and teaching you how to develop a positive driving style that will reduce your risk of being involved in a crash and it can save you money on your insurance premiums too!

The syllabus can be completed in a minimum of 6 hours and will cover:

  • Town or Inner city driving
  • Out of town driving & rural roads
  • Night Driving
  • Dual Carriageways
  • Motorways
  • All weather driving

We will normally cover at least 5 ½ hours of practical driving, with the all weather driving sometimes being conducted as a theory session.

You will gain a certificate at the end of the course either at the achieved or exceeded standard. There is no exam as you will be continually assessed by your instructor and you will need to sign your Training Report.

Please note that to complete the course within the minimum six hours, you will need to show a competent and safe drive throughout the course.

Road Safety Presentations
Since 2007 we have been offering FREE road safety presentations to schools and colleges and from May 2008, we are now able to offer a similar presentation to company drivers. To book a presentation call James on 0161 969 2576.

Brake Charity

For Schools
Our school presentations which are conducted in association with BRAKE, the road safety charity, can be organised at your school during lesson times.

The presentation asks pupils to watch a hard-hitting DVD showing testimonials of the consequences of road accidents. Pupils are then asked to discuss what they have seen. We may be able to offer an incentive for some of groups such as a short off road driving experience.

Groups should be a maximum of 20 pupils and classes should be attended by the normal teacher for the lesson. The presentation is aimed at Year 11 students and lasts for around 50 minutes.

To organise a presentation at your school or college please contact us by telephone on 0161 969 2576 or email us at roadsafety@ltest.co.uk. You can also contact Osel Kelsang at BRAKE on 01484 559 909.

For Companies
We offer a presentation in association with BRAKE, the road safety charity. The presentation can be arranged at your employees' place of work and will normally last around 1 ½ hours. The presentation includes a DVD presentation with interviews from victims of road accidents.

Employers now have a duty of care under Health & Safety at work regulations to ensure their employees are operating vehicles safely when driving for work. By reminding employees of the potential risks they could be taking you will be encouraging a culture of safer driving. We can also offer practical advice on eco-driving which can save you up to 10% in fuel costs!
